The PCR-LAF cabinets can be selected to operate in the non-ventilated or ventilated laminar flow mode to provide a controlled work environment with ISO Class 5 (Class 100) air cleanliness to perform polymerase chain reaction experiments. In the ventilated mode, ambient air is drawn in through an easily accessible prefilter on top of the cabinet to trap large particles. The prefiltered air is introduced to the work area through a final HEPA filter which comprises the top of the work zone. The HEPA-filtered air is continuously projected over the entire work surface to provide a non-turbulence, particulate-free work environment before discharged to the laboratory through the work opening. During the PCR process, the downflow air is redirected to discharge via the rear exhaust grille when the work opening cover is fully closed.
